WOODLAND WORK SHELTERS

Our woodland shelters provide us with a covered work area to carry out traditional green wood working crafts as well as providing space for training courses.

Tree Bog

TREE BOG

Our unique living Tree Bog Toilet sited on it’s platform is one of the most proven ecological ways of providing a carbon neutral and chemical free solution to dealing with nutrients we as humans generate from our waste. The Willow trees are one of the few nitrogen fixing trees that digest and flourish on the nutrients we provide. The Tree Bog is a far more ecologically empathetic and sound than any chemical toilet or sewage treatment plant, also providing us with renewable sustainable resources for hurdle making and basket weaving.

Pete talks about one of the projects biggest undertakings, building the Tree Bog.

Off-Grid Stays

OFF-GRID STAYS

Our temporary multi-functional platform housing our new lathe work shelter, doubles up as our unique off-grid, seasonal residential “Wilderness Tent” which provides unique accommodation for our course attendees and people wishing to gain experience and unique insight into the sustainable low impact worlds of coppice management, permaculture, agro-forestry and the story of wood and green woodworking we undertake at the project site. With the aid of our work shelters we carry out the ancient skills of Bodging.

The Sawmill

THE SAWMILL

Our sawmill is a wonderful addition to the project funded by the Heritage Fund for Culture. Our Woodland Mills 130 max band saw mill has a 14.5 horse power engine which can mill up to a thirty-inch diameter log up to nine foot six inches long. It will allow us to mill round timber up into planks, posts, beams and to make items to sell to provide funds to keep the project alive for all to enjoy.

We are also able to offer a small sawing timber service for customers. You will need to bring the timber to site for us as we don’t have any means of transporting round timber.

Please telephone for information on our sawing service.
